Ann began her career with the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California, and Reston, Virginia. She attended San Mateo College in San Mateo, CA. She has been the sole proprietor of JAW Computer Services, a training and small business computer services firm, since 1981. She is located in Paradise Valley, Arizona in the Phoenix area.
Ms. Waananen was a Certified Instructor through WordPerfect Corporation from the the program start in 1987 until its demise in 1997.
Since early 1984, Ms. Waananen has concentrated on training software packages for the legal industry. She has taught for law firms in all major cities of the United States and in Europe. Classes have been included MS Office and WordPerfect Office (including the legal version), plus other software packages specific to each firm. Typical such software is CD Entry, DocXTools, document management, and other third-party software. Her most recent projects included teaching and supporting Interwoven DeskSite, WorkSite and MailSite.
She is a certified trainer for DocXTools, developed by Microsystems in Chicago. This package translates WordPerfect and older Word documents into the current Word format, removing inconsistencies and other problems.
Jack retired from the National Mapping Division of the U.S. Geological Survey after being responsible for the procurement and operational policy of the telecommunications and network infrastructure for the Division. A graduate Civil Engineer in Surveying and Mapping from the University of California in Berkeley, his career was primarily in the area of research into automating the mapping process through computerization.
Jack provides volunteer technical support for the WordPerfect line of office automation products. He was on the staff of the CompuServe online WORDPERF forum and the Corel Corporation online newsgroups. He created and maintained Windows peer-to-peer wired and wireless networks at JAW Computer Services and for their clients. He is very experienced in hardware and software (Windows) installation and troubleshooting.
For fun, Ann and Jack teach basic computer courses and Adobe Photoshop Elements on cruise ships.
